McCarren Pool is closing as a douchebag magnet. Then re-opening as you know, a pool. Oh the irony. Aww, where will you skanky transplants be able to hoola-hoop, Slip "n" Slide, play dodgeball, play Twister, and of course listen to the most fucked up music ever?
Oh, I'm sure a team of diligent transplants are already on a mission and searching to make sure that there will be a venue for 20 - 40 year olds to take up space and act like 13 - 18 year olds. Most likely in Brooklyn, but maybe Queens. Who knows in what direction they're heading? One thing is for sure, it's in the direction of a neighborhood where hard working people pay $600-$1200 for rent and will be forced out when the rents jump to $1500-$3000 so a mass of Portlanders and Minnesotans (just because I didn't mention your city or state doesn't mean you're excluded, ok douche?) can frolic around with their paint stains, lattes and out of tune guitars. This of course will lead to the same yuppification that's happening in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and LIC that some of you hipsters have the balls to complain about when you in fact are the root of the problem. Judging from their comments, a lot of anti-hipster sentiment evidently comes from "tough guy" non-intellectual homophobic macho types who feel that the more sensitive, intelligent, physically slimmer, and culturally aware hipster ideal threatens their insecure sense of masculinity. At some point in their lives they probably got mocked and ridiculed, or even had beer poured all over their heads, by some downtown girl with a tattoo (aka "hipster") after trying to pull some lame move on them. If you think about it, in some ways the entire hipster revolution came about to mock and ridicule such people and their mentalities. It's not about meat and muscle anymore. Anti-hipster sentiment often comes from people who simply can't keep up with social change and are envious of those who can. Remember...you can always rate the amount of insecurity someone has by the amount they rant about hipsters. Ranting against hipsters is like ranting against the fact that the sun comes up every morning... except the meatheads still don't get it...
